First responders were called to Sharp Packaging Solutions on Keebler Way, for reports of a "chemical odor" and employees feeling ill, township police said.

They arrived to find multiple workers nauseated, vomiting, and experiencing headaches, according to officials. Fifty-four of the 154 employees were taken to hospitals for evaluation, police said.

An update on their conditions Friday evening was not released.

Firefighters and Lehigh County Special Operations units investigated the scene and found "no abnormal readings," authorities said. The cause of the odor is still unclear.

An OSHA spokesperson told Daily Voice the agency is investigating the incident and has six months to release its findings.
